Sub-Grades
Every BGS card receives four sub-grades: centering, corners, edges, and surface. This level of detail is included free - PSA does not offer sub-grades at all.
Resale Value
BGS 9.5 Gem Mint and BGS 10 Pristine command strong premiums. Black Label BGS 10 (all four sub-grades at 10) often matches or exceeds PSA 10 prices.
BGS Grading Scale
BGS uses a 1-10 grading scale with half-point increments. The highest grades carry distinct labels that collectors and buyers recognize instantly.

| 10 | Pristine | Virtually flawless. Black Label if all four sub-grades are 10. |
| 9.5 | Gem Mint | Near-perfect condition. The most common top-tier grade. |
| 9 | Mint | Excellent condition with only minor imperfections. |
| 8.5 | NM-MT+ | Near Mint to Mint Plus. Very slight wear visible. |
| 8 | NM-MT | Near Mint to Mint. Minor flaws on close inspection. |
| 7 and below | NM and lower | Visible wear. Typically not cost-effective to grade for resale. |
